The gamble of comparison

I had certain goals to achieve and once I did, there remained a coating of disappointment within. When I saw that I was not the only one and felt like a commoner. To have worked so hard to get here only to find myself yet again hidden amongst another group of similarly positioned people.

And, that made me question everything. Realising how absolutely futile it is to compare objective material assets. How all that supposed victory feels like a waste of time. A return to where I started?
Because this would be an endless trial. Striving and competing for more and more and yet having no true satisfaction.

All of this made me shift my focus. Refusing to sit in disappointment knowing and remembering what it took off me to have reached here. How these external achivements are merely a by product of the growth that has happened within me during this process.

Comparison with others can be very dangerous. It's like the balance machine used by vendors. One second you're up and the next second you're down and someone else is higher.
When you compare yourself with someone else, you're gambling. It's a gamble with time, another individual over whom you've no control and a gamble with your own very self. And where there's gambling there are high rates of profit and loss.

Instead if we began celebrating instead of comparing, then we see 'how' we got to where we are!

Turning that disappointment into contentment. A strong inner knowing of the arduous details that you'd to endure which no one else may know of.
This validation that you give yourself of your struggles and experiences will protect you when others or even your own mind tries to belittle and tear you down.

Sometimes we simply forget to celebrate how far we've come! If you're still reading this then take this as a reminder to remember the various, rags to riches- stories in your life!

You're special not just because of what you have but because of how wonderfully you got to where you are now!
